A fitness boot camp is a type of indoor / outdoor group exercise body conditioning class that mixes body weight exercises with interval training and strength training to burn fat at its highest potential. While there are a variety of styles of fitness boot camps, most are designed in a way that encourages the participant (boot camper) to lose fat, improve endurance, increase muscular strength developing lean muscle mass, enhance cardiovascular health and increasing your resting metabolic rate (burn more calories throughout the day!). During a 1 hour class, you'll most likely encounter runs, squats, ab work, push-ups and various forms of plyometric and interval training. Taking the name from military training, boot camp classes offer FAST RESULTS by combining cardio and strength training to burn more calories by helping to speed up your metabolism. These fun and exciting group workouts create a supportive and motivational community of like-minded people; people who want to improve their health, self-confidence and overall well-being. A typical boot camp class can burn anywhere from around 600 -1000 calories depending on your fitness level and intensity of your workout (if you give 100%). Yoga, in Sanskrit, typically means 'union' between the mind, body and spirit. Because yoga is a low-impact activity and can include gentle movements, it is commonly used as part of physical therapy and rehabilitation of injuries regardless of age, experience or level of flexibility. Clinical and psychological studies have shown that engaging in yoga can; better your physical posture and strengthen and tone muscles, and when performed in rapid succession, can provide cardiovascular conditioning, help with meditation and deep breathing which can reduce stress, thereby lowering blood pressure and inducing relaxation and connect mind/body awareness that can influence mood and self-esteem to improve quality of life. Yoga brings stability to the body and the wandering mind. It increases the lubrication of joints, ligaments and tendons of the body. Studies in the field of medicine suggest that Yoga is the only form of physical activity that provides complete exercise to the body, because it massages all the internal organs and glands.
